Hershell 400
I have been resisting this project for years and years.  Why do I want to look up a bunch of galaxies and other stuff just to say I've done it.  What does the Hershell 400 have that cataclysmic variables and Gamma Ray Bursts don't.   I discovered an answer at Savage the other night.  It's just a different way to enjoy the heavens.  Why go to all the trouble?  Because it's fun!
DDoesn't it just take up time that could be used to collect science?  Hmmm, yup guess it does.  But you know, Everest wasn't build in a day, and the cataclysmic variables and Gamma Ray Bursts will be there whenever.  I think that once a month, I can give up the hard core and indulge in the soft core.

II'm constructing the pages as I go along, so the pages are very much under construction, and will be for a good while.

My source is Uranometria, the new one, and for now, my NGC objects come only from Volume 1 at this time.  My directions require movements in the four cardinal directions, so polar alignment is a help.

I am experimenting with the IO pen, so you will find my stuff handwritten.  I am doing this for two reasons really.  The first being that it is just easier to use a pen than a keyboard sitting at the kitchen table within easy reach of the coffee pot, and the second is that I just like the pen better.  There's probably a third or maybe a forth reason that I just can't get my hands on right now, but when I do, maybe I'll clue you in.

There is a down-side though, my handwriting, but I think it's clear enough to get you where you want to go if you haven't become the kind of snob that will only read the typewritten word.  (Don't laugh, I know folks, who in the name of efficiency, tight-rear-ed-ness, or other clinical problems, just won't make the attempt.)
