What in the world is a Gamma Ray Burst?
-- Every day powerful explosions of gamma radiation illuminate random parts of the sky. We don't know what causes them and you can't see them with the naked eye. They're called "gamma ray bursts."

Where do they come from? Answer: from every direction in the cosmos, and they come from very far away.
